Paolo Pellegrin 'Ghosts' for GINZA
Paolo Pellegrin's first collection of photographs for GINZA is previously unpublished. Ghostscomprimises a series of atmospheric black and white portraits taken on the streets of Tokyo in February 2010.
As the name implies, the subjects in Ghosts are hard to discern clearly, obscured by the close tonality used in each slot. The photographs are grainy, their figures emerging from the dark backloth of the chill Tokyo winter. There's an air of gloom, enhanced, perhaps, by the smog (one subject wears a facemask) that seems to pervade the portraits.
