THERE'S ONLY ONE SALE....... THE HARRODS SALE.... (BEHIND THE SCENES)

On Monday 27th December I was fortunate to be invited along to the Harrods of London sale, but this was with a difference a behind the scene look on how it all comes together, which celebrity or in this case celebrities will open it and a look at the passionate shoppers and what drives them to go to the lengths they do to bag that festive bargain.  It was a great experience having 'exclusive' behind the scenes access!

International model and actress Jerry Hall and model daughter Lizzy Jagger were surprise guests at the world famous Harrods store this morning where they welcomed eager crowds of shoppers to the most anticipated sale event of the year.

Jerry, who recently completed another spectacular stage performance in the Graduate in Perth, wowed the crowds in an elegant structured dress and coat by Roland Mouret, with black patent courts by Dior. Daughter Lizzy who carved her own place in the fashion world after making her catwalk debut modelling for Thierry Mugler, also looked stunning on the red carpet in a beautiful coat and dress by Alaia, with Kurt Geiger boots. Both ensembles were specially selected for the event by the team at Harrods BY APPOINTMENT. Jewellery for both girls was by Theo Fennell.

Jerry was dressed in Roland Mouret with Dior shoes, whilst Elizabeth was dress in Alaia and Kurt Geiger boots

Arriving in a horse-drawn carriage before being welcomed onto the red carpet by Harrods Managing Director Michael Ward, the pair then joined in the official sale countdown.

While the shop floor filled with thousands of customers looking for the very best winter bargains, Jerry and Lizzy paid a visit to Harrods luxurious Shoe Boudoir. Sitting amongst towers of shoe boxes and surrounded by pairs of exquisite designer footwear, the mother and daughter pair posed for a special photo-call before being whisked away for a traditional Harrods breakfast in the festively decorated Georgian Restaurant.

Said Jerry Hall, ‘Harrods has been my favourite destination store since I first came to London, and there is no doubt that it’s any girl’s dream to be the first in line to the world’s best sale. I am hugely honoured to have been invited with my daughter to open the doors today.’

Said Lizzy Jagger, ‘What more can I add ladies and gentlemen, but to ask you all to, GET… SET…. SHOP!’

As a loyal Follower/customer of Harrods for over 15 years it was a wonderful experience looking at the sale from a different perspective from behind the scenes.  I tip my hat to the Press Department, Social Media Department and to all the staff at Harrods for this was a well organised 'operation' and a great sale!.  Harrods of London I salute You!!

What an amazing day! I felt like I was there. I wasn't of course but I did go sale shopping in downtown Worcester.

I have many happy memories of Harrods. I first went with my Mum as a little girl. She was very much a stylish fashionista in her day. She taught me how to feel quality in fabric and to admire a good cut and garment construction. She also made a lot of clothes herself and taught me all that she knows. She still knits (she is now 86) and has retained her interest in fashion.

I was a student in Chelsea in the 1980s. As well as our Rag Week parade taking in Knightsbridge, we also used to have Sunday morning breakfast in Harrods as an occasional treat. I was a regular visitor to browse the fashion rooms but alas, all I could afford was a chiffon scarf!

Harrods is an institution as is its sale. Thanks for making me feel part of it!

OMG how busy????? What's all this about a credit crunch they keep going on about. Certainly didn't appear to be any signs of that not just in Harrods but every shopping centre in the UK.

It seems most people saved their hard earned cash knowing the great bargains to be had after Christmas. Well done to everyone who got their bargain that day. xx
