GIORGIO ARMANI DRESSED 2012 ACADEMY AWARDS PARTICIPANTS


Giorgio Armani dressed selected nominees, presenters and guests at the 84th Annual Academy Awards, as well as guests at various events surrounding the Oscars. The show took place on Sunday evening, February 26th at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.

Presenter Penelope Cruz wore a custom Giorgio Armani organza evening gown. The color of the dress is an ethereal combination of blue and grey that blends like a stormy sky. The look features dramatic off-the-shoulder straps and a fitted bodice. The waist is enveloped by a drape of fabric that cascades into gathered pleats, causing an understated, luminescent liquid effect.

Presenter Ellie Kemper, co-star of “Bridesmaids,” wore an Armani Prive red hued evening gown, encrusted in scarlet, yellow and orange square pailletes creating the illusion of an abstract flaming fire. The strapless gown is fitted into a strong yet slender silhouette.

Roberta Armani attended the ceremony in an Armani Prive bustier dress in black silk cady with a white silk insert covered in delicate floral printing. The square bodice contradicts the flowing bottom for an elegant silhouette.

Italian media star Simona Ventura wore an Armani Prive black evening gown. The color of the dress is a modern black metallic blend with tonal netting. The gown highlights an embroidered one shoulder along with a fitted silhouette that trails into a train.

Billy Crystal who reprised his role as host of the Oscars for the ninth time wore Giorgio Armani suiting. He selected multiple Made-to-Measure outfits that include traditional formal wear consisting of white tie and tails in wool and cashmere. The vest and bow tie are produced in pique and the jacket lapels are trimmed in silk grosgrain. Crystal also wore a two button midnight blue wool and cashmere peak lapel tuxedo with a matching vest. The look was completed with a classic white evening shirt and a midnight blue satin bow tie. He also attended the evening's after parties wearing a Giorgio Armani four button double breasted wool jersey shawl collar evening jacket with velvet evening pants and a black evening shirt.

Nominee George Clooney wore a classic Giorgio Armani tuxedo, with an evening shirt and a bow tie.

Nominee Martin Scorsese selected a Giorgio Armani Made-to-Measure wool and cashmere double breasted shawl collar tuxedo with a classic black evening shirt and a bow tie. Scorsese was nominated in the Directing category for "Hugo."

Dante Ferretti, nominated in the category of Art Direction for his work in "Hugo" wore a Giorgio Armani two button peak lapel tuxedo with a classic evening shirt and a bow tie.

Martial Corneville, was nominated in the category of Makeup for his work in "Albert Nobbs" and selected a Giorgio Armani two button peak lapel tuxedo with a classic evening shirt and a bow tie.

Presenter Tom Cruise wore a custom designed Giorgio Armani midnight blue one button wool and cashmere peak lapel tuxedo with a classic white evening shirt and a navy blue neck tie.

Attendee Martin Short wore a Giorgio Armani wool and cashmere two button peak lapel tuxedo with a classic evening shirt and a bow tie.

Mark Foster from Foster the People wore an Emporio Armani distressed aqua leather jacket when he performed at the Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards viewing party.

Several guests also attended various Oscar night parties wearing Giorgio Armani:

Supermodel Karolina Kurkova wore an Armani Prive long-sleeved champagne-colored jumpsuit, featuring a plunging V-neck and open back. The entire look is made with delicate netting and embroidered with silver detail, creating the illusion that the outfit is tailored onto the body.

Actress Jessica Weixler wore a Giorgio Armani gold gown, featuring a deep V in the front with a rouched seam down the front. The dress is detailed with horizontal satin stripes.

San Francisco social influencer and philanthropist Vanessa Getty wore an Armani Prive black evening gown, covered in sequins which are in turn covered with silk fringe, causing a muted yet edgy shimmer. The extreme form-fitting dress begins with one strap over the shoulder and is completed with a slight ruffle on the hip.

Vinessa Shaw wore a Giorgio Armani black satin cocktail dress featuring a fringe trim with a silk panel dangling from the shoulder.

Sophie Winkleman, recently known for her role in “Two and a Half Men,” wore a Giorgio Armani black satin sleeveless gown, featuring a low plunging scoop neck and a dramatic slit up the leg. The dress is detailed with three satin buttons on the side.

Ian Somerhalder wore an Emporio Armani one button peak lapel tuxedo with a classic evening shirt and a bow tie.

Director Edoardo Ponti wore a Giorgio Armani midnight blue microfiber double breasted tuxedo with a classic evening shirt and a bow tie.

Colton Haynes wore an Emporio Armani one button peak lapel tuxedo with a classic evening shirt and a bow tie.
