Merit Award SS13

The highly acclaimed Merit Award is worth £25,000 over three seasons and provides the winner with a high profile launch pad during both London and Paris Fashion Weeks.
Heohwan Simulation graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2007 and showcased his debut collection as part of Ones To Watch at Vauxhall Fashion Scout in February 2012. His experimental pieces stem from an original background in menswear design. Inspired through a critical viewpoint of fashion history, Hwan Heo’s key silhouettes are executed with an aesthetic beauty.

Ones to watch SS13

Ones To Watch is an integral part of London Fashion Week and is the first place to see the new generation of emerging designers. Over the past five seasons Ones To Watch has been responsible for launching the likes of Hermione de Paula, Dean Quinn, Eudon Choi, David Longshaw, Kirsty Ward and Phoebe English to the market.

Charlotte Simpson graduated from London College of Fashion MA this year and presented her MA collection at Vauxhall Fashion Scout in both London and Paris. With inspiration drawn from her continual research into scientific imagery, Charlotte creates tactile and intriguing embroideries, which enhance her muted colour palettes. When combined with her minimalist aesthetic she achieves a more ‘throw on’ approach to couture style.

Hana Cha was the proud recipient of the Womenswear Collection of the Year upon graduation from London College of Fashion MA in February 2012. Hana explores the diffusion representative between the classes of the Proletariats and the Bourgeois through a division in her style, use of colour and material.
Hellen van Rees graduated from Central Saint Martins in February 2012. Combining recycled materials with an innovative approach to fabric manipulation, Hellen’s handmade tweeds are sustainably sourced and produced. Inspired by modern art, Hellen’s impressive feat of technical craftsmanship was celebrated in her geometric AW12 MA collection.

Graduating from London College of Fashion this year, Ming Pin Tien’s strength lies in a reflective and individual point of view in beauty and fashion. The Taiwanese designer executes a strong abstract concept, balancing creative pattern cutting with colour and texture.

Vauxhall Fashion Scout is a launch pad for new talent and this season will feature the highly-anticipated Merit Award and Ones To Watch shows alongside catwalk shows, presentations, installations and exhibition space.

September 2012 marks Vauxhall Fashion Scout’s 13th season as the home of new talent. Vauxhall Fashion Scout will take place at Freemasons’ Hall, Covent Garden from 14th – 18th September 2012. Vauxhall Motors will be showcasing their new city car the Vauxhall ADAM at Vauxhall Fashion Scout and collaborating with three different designers presenting the car in three very different ways.
